“The sound was truly awe-inspiring. Deep bass extension, purity and pitch definition were top notch.”—C/Net Reviews

Unexpected power and style
Atlantic Technology subwoofers include powerful low-distortion amplifiers and low-resonance, long-throw drivers, housed in a heavily-braced, non-resonant sealed box enclosure. We have chosen this "acoustic suspension" approach because it ensures smooth, uniform bass all the way down to the lowest audible frequencies with no unwanted peaks or dips. It does not hype any frequency and it never falls into the trap of substituting loud, muddy "one note" bass in place of accurate, extended, natural response.

    Details

    212 SB

The 212 SB features a 10” long-throw composite cone driver with a vented motor structure and 2” high temperature, 4-layer voice coil. This powerful driver has a very stiff cone that acts like a piston throughout its operating range. Its massive magnetic motor assembly and high temperature component parts deliver exceptional performance and reliability. By utilizing a sealed enclosure design, the 212 SB offers unusually low distortion, and delivers deep smooth bass response with a gradual and predictable roll-off below resonance. As with all Atlantic Technology subwoofers, we have paid close attention to balancing accurate musical bass reproduction with terrific special effects slam.

Featuring a specially designed amplifier capable of high current delivery for exceptional driver control and cool operation, the 125-watt amplifier in the 212 SB has been precision matched and equalized to work in tandem with our rugged 10" driver. Together they deliver powerful, controlled bass with unusual articulation and authority. Our exclusive Clear Filter Technology assures crystal clear output at all levels.

Many subwoofers offer specifications that look great on paper, but in real world use deliver less than promised. Atlantic Technology subwoofers are over-designed to ensure that they will deliver their rated performance in your room, when properly placed and adjusted. Hence, the 212 SB boasts a working in-room frequency response of 25Hz to 150Hz. An amazing feat when one considers this is the same acoustical performance found in the larger and more powerful 422 SB. What’s the difference between the two? If you are putting together a system for a smaller room, the 212 SB is almost certainly guaranteed to deliver--without "overwhelming" the room!

Utilizing an adjustable (40Hz to 140Hz) 18dB per octave Low-Pass crossover allows the 212 SB excellent bass integration with the 1200 or 2200 LR satellite speakers while making the woofer less localizable. Meanwhile the Phase Invert switch (Normal/Invert) allows precise acoustic matching with satellite speaker systems whose output may be phase reversed relative to the subwoofer. This switch also allows you to compensate for unusual room acoustics that can occur when the subwoofer is physically separated from the main speakers by a significant distance.
